In 2025, the Library Innovation Lab consolidated its ongoing online data preservation efforts as the Public Data Project. This initiative works to preserve and make accessible public federal data by archiving large datasets as well as building tools to facilitate the work of libraries and other institutions that collect and monitor the integrity of this data. As we approached the one-year anniversary of our Public Data Project, we convened a small group of leaders in libraries, technology, and philanthropy who have shared a commitment to federal data work.
